Why did you begin martial arts training? Why do you continue to train?
My reason for beginning martial arts training was to gain self-confidence, self-respect and to find myself; figure out who I could be as a person. I have always been a quiet, nervous person with a ton of self-doubt over everything. I found this amazing place with the best instructors and began to build up that confidence and respect for myself. I continue to train because this has become not just a hobby or some "therapy" for me but also a way of life. I continue to discover new things about myself that I never knew before. My confidence has grown tremendously and continues to do so and I have learned to stick with it because of the motto: "Seven times down, Eight times up”.
Why did you choose to be a part of the Leadership Team at Hero?
Honestly, I never saw myself becoming any kind of leader whatsoever. However, Hero has shown me that I can be a better person than I was before, even better than yesterday. I became part of the Leadership Team to discover how I could be the best me in order to help others around me and for my own benefits. I get to really dig deep into myself and draw that person out and become stronger mentally. Leadership also helps me find a way to give back to my community and my school for all the work they have done.
What is your favorite color?
Blue
What is a book or a movie that you enjoy?
My favorite books are the Warriors books by Erin Hunter. I love watching the Ip Man movies.
My son is attending the academy since he was 4 years old, he is now 16 and he continues to be engaged and is very excited to attend his classes. For me, the main reason is that Master Mike is always working to provide value and to challenge him. I truthfully recommend Hero Academy!
My son has learned so much in his years at Hero Martial Arts. So much more than just martial arts - work ethic, respect, responsibility and leadership. Plus a staff that feels like family and goes above and beyond, especially in the last few topsy turvy pandemic years, to come up with creative ways to keep training and keep the kids engaged throughout.
Our son started as a Little Hero almost two years ago and loves coming to class. He has learned so much and we truly appreciate the patience you all have with him. He struggles with focus and Master Neibling nows the right words to help him refocus his energy. I joined the class last October and i am truly enjoying myself. I’m learning, trying and do things I have never done before and it feels great! We love it here!!!
